If your organization works in Branch on behalf of clients, your third-party account is where you work across them. From one login, you reach every app your clients have granted you, open those apps to do your work, and manage your own team’s access.
This guide covers finding client apps, working inside them, and managing your organization’s users. To set up a new account, see Create Your Third Party Account.
For what third parties are and how access works, see Third Party Overview.
About your third-party account
Your third-party account represents your organization in Branch. It’s separate from your clients’ accounts:
- Clients grant your organization access to specific apps, with permissions they control. You see every granted app in one place.
- Your team members belong to your third-party account, not to your clients’ teams. Your admins add teammates and assign them to apps without involving the client.
- Your account has two areas: Apps and Users.
See the apps you can access
The Apps page lists the apps clients have given you access to, with the app name and the account each app belongs to. Use the search box to find an app quickly, and Columns to choose which columns the table shows.
An app appears here as soon as a client grants your organization access, so you don’t request it separately.
Open and work in a client’s app
Select an app from the Apps page to open it. While you’re inside a client’s app, a banner at the top confirms which app you’re working in, the account it belongs to, and the organization you’re viewing as.
A few things to know while you work:
- The client sets your permissions. The features and data you can reach — links, campaigns, reporting, and exports — depend on what the client granted your organization for that app.
- If a feature or report you expect isn’t there, your organization most likely doesn’t have that permission. Ask the client’s app admin to review your permissions.
- Some areas are unavailable to third parties regardless of permissions. Sensitive account information, such as the client’s billing details, isn’t accessible.
- Select Exit app to leave the client’s app and return to your third-party account.
Manage your organization’s users
The Users page lists everyone in your organization with their name, email, status, role, and the apps they can reach.
Admins reach every app granted to your organization and manage your team. Everyone else reaches only the apps an admin assigns them. Adding a teammate doesn’t expand your organization’s access, because you can only assign apps your clients have already granted.
A few constraints to plan around:
- Within an app, everyone you assign has the same permissions: the ones the client granted your organization. You can’t give one teammate more or less access than another in the same app.
- Add users one at a time. There’s no bulk upload.
- New teammates join with a business email address. Public email domains such as Gmail and Yahoo aren’t supported.
- Set up a second admin so you don’t lose access to the account if someone leaves. If your organization has no active admin, contact support@branch.io.
Note
Some organizations use a shared alias as an admin address so account access survives staff changes. We allow this, but activity from a shared login is recorded against the alias rather than an individual, which makes it harder to tell who made a change.
Remove a teammate’s access
When someone leaves your organization or moves off a client, remove them or unassign them from the app on the Users page.
Your clients can’t do this for you. They control your organization’s access to their app, and you control which of your people have it, so removing someone here is the only way to end their access to your clients’ apps.
Troubleshoot common issues
- You don’t see an app you expect: Ask your organization’s admin whether you’ve been assigned to the app. If your organization doesn’t have the app at all, ask the client’s app admin to grant access.
- An app disappeared from your Apps page: The client most likely disabled your organization’s access. Contact the client’s app admin.
- You can’t see certain features or data inside a client’s app: The client controls your organization’s permissions and data restrictions for each app. Ask the client’s app admin to review your permissions.
- A teammate can’t sign in: Confirm they’re using their business email address on your organization’s domain. Public email domains such as Gmail and Yahoo aren’t supported. An email address can also belong to only one Branch account, so an address already tied to another account can’t be added to yours. Contact support@branch.io if you need help resolving it.
