When a client invites your organization to work in their Branch app, you receive an email invitation. Accepting it creates your third-party account: a single login where you reach every client app you’ve been granted and manage your own team.
This guide covers accepting the invitation, setting up your account, and getting started.
For what third parties are and how access works, see Third Party Overview.
Note
Whoever completes this setup becomes your organization’s first admin in Branch and controls who else at your organization gets access to client apps. If that’s someone else, forward the invitation email to them before you continue.
Before you begin
To create a third-party account, you first need to:
- Receive an invitation email from a client. Clients send these from their app, so ask your client contact to invite you if you haven’t received one.
- Use your business email address. Public email domains such as Gmail and Yahoo aren’t supported.
Branch allows one third-party account per email domain. If your organization already has an account, your client connects to that account instead of inviting you to create a new one. Ask one of your admins to add you.
Accept your invitation
You receive an email from “Branch Alerts” with the subject “You’ve been invited to collaborate.” It names the person who invited you and the app they invited you to.
- Select Create third party account in the invitation email. If the button doesn’t work, use the link below it.
- Enter a password on the Set your password page.
- Confirm your password.
- Select Reset password.
- Enter your Work email on the sign-in page, then select Continue.
- Enter your password to sign in.
Your password needs at least eight characters, including at least three of the following: lowercase letters, uppercase letters, numbers, and special characters.
Set up your account
After you sign in for the first time, Branch asks you to complete your organization’s details on the Set up your third party account page. Complete it to finish setup.
- Enter your Third party name. This is your official organization name. If your client entered a different name when they invited you, correct it here.
- Enter your Third party website. Branch records it with your account.
- Select your Third party type: Agency, Ad network/platform partner, Developer/integration partner, Measurement & analytics partner, Contractor/consultant, or Other.
- Select I agree to Branch’s Terms & Conditions and Privacy Policy.
- Select Create third party account.
- Enter your First name and Last name on the Complete your profile dialog.
- Select Continue.
Note
Your third-party type identifies what kind of organization you are. It doesn’t change what you can see or do in Branch.
Start working in client apps
You land in your third-party account with the client’s app already available, so you don’t request access separately. Your account has two areas:
- Apps lists the apps clients have given you access to.
- Users lists everyone in your organization and the apps they can reach.
You’re now your organization’s first admin. That’s an admin of your organization: admins control who joins your team and which client apps each teammate works in. Being an admin doesn’t grant extra access inside a client’s app, where your permissions are whatever the client granted.
For adding teammates and working in client apps, see Work with Client Apps in Your Third Party Account.
Troubleshoot common issues
- Your email address is rejected: Public email domains such as Gmail and Yahoo aren’t supported. Use your business email address.
- You didn’t receive the invitation: Check your spam folder for an email from “Branch Alerts,” then ask your client contact to confirm the address they used.
- Your invitation link doesn’t work: Ask your client contact to invite you again, or contact support@branch.io.
