Before you begin

To set up the Awin integration, you need:

  • Ad partner integrations enabled for your Branch account. Availability varies by Branch plan. See Branch pricing or contact your Branch representative.

  • A Branch account with access to Configuration > Ad Partners and admin permissions to enable and configure integrations.

  • The Branch SDK implemented in your app (iOS | Android) with event tracking configured.

  • An Awin account with admin access and campaigns running through Awin.

Enable Awin

To begin, navigate to Configuration > Ad Partners > Awin.

Branch enables Awin's basic setup automatically. On the Status tab, the Ad Linking and Attribution cards show Enabled. The Postbacks card shows Needs Setup until you add your Awin Advertiser ID.

To add your Awin Advertiser ID, select Partner settings to open the Manage account dialog. Under Postback Credentials, enter your Awin Advertiser ID, then select Save. Branch automatically adds this ID to your Awin postbacks. Contact your Awin account manager if you need help locating your Advertiser ID.

(Recommended) To configure the optional PAM for Publishers privacy setting, select Partner settings to open the Manage account dialog and enable the toggle. When enabled, PAM for Publishers removes advertiser-specific user identifiers from postbacks for users who haven't opted in via Apple's App Tracking Transparency (ATT) framework, prioritizing identifiers provided directly by Awin.

Configure attribution

By default, Awin uses your global app attribution settings. To set attribution windows specific to Awin, enable the Override global app settings toggle on the Attribution windows tab.

To minimize discrepancies when comparing Branch and Awin reporting, match your Branch attribution windows to the settings in your Awin account. Awin recommends longer click windows (90 days for click to start session and click to conversion event, 30 days for click to install) and 1-day impression windows.

For more information, follow Configure attribution in the general Ad Partner Integration Guide.

Configure postbacks

Enabling Awin automatically activates postbacks for INSTALL and PURCHASE. The default postback URL template is:

https://www.awin1.com/sread.php?tt=ss&tv=2&type=ap&merchant=<#if (last_attributed_touch_data.awin_merchant_id)?? && (last_attributed_touch_data.awin_merchant_id)?has_content>${(last_attributed_touch_data.awin_merchant_id)!}<#else>${ad_network.credentials.awin_advertiser_id}</#if>&amount=${ (event_data.revenue)! }&ref=<#if (user_data.os)! == "IOS" && (user_data.idfa)! != "">${(user_data.idfa)!}<#elseif (user_data.os)! == "IOS">${(user_data.idfv)!}<#elseif (user_data.os)! == "ANDROID">${(user_data.aaid)!}</#if>&parts=${(content_items[0].custom_fields.commissionGroupCode)!}:${ (event_data.revenue)! }&cks=${ (last_attributed_touch_data.~click_id)! }&p1=${ (user_data.os)! }&awin_merchant_id=${ (last_attributed_touch_data.awin_merchant_id)! }&awin_advertiser_id=${ (ad_network.credentials.awin_advertiser_id)! }&p30=branch

To add postbacks for additional events or to customize postback behavior, follow Configure postbacks in the general Ad Partner Integration Guide.

Create a Branch Ad Link to use in your Awin campaigns. Branch uses the link to attribute clicks and installs and deep link users into your app. The Branch Ad Link you create is placed in your Awin campaign.

Follow Create Ad Links.

Verify your data

After your integration is connected and events are flowing, you can verify data is reaching Branch and Awin:

  • In Branch Liveview: confirm that events from your app appear in real time. This is the fastest way to confirm SDK events are firing.

  • In Branch Analysis dashboards: review attributed installs and events where Ad Partner Name = Awin.

  • In Awin: confirm that forwarded events are appearing in your Awin reporting.
